InVEST

I am beyond thankful to have had the opportunity to participate in the InVEST Program.  I believe that I am meant for the business industry.  This is my fourth year in the Academy of Finance and it has helped guide me in the direction I see my life going and given me a plethora of opportunities, including getting to learn from Mrs. Doetsch about insurance and all the opportunities the industry has to offer.  InVEST was exceptionally eye opening for me because Mrs. Doetsch informed us of all the different jobs that fall under “insurance,” where each position fits different strengths the employee possesses.  Before participating in InVEST, I did not realize all the components that went into insurance and how many different types of job positions there were, in addition to all the different types of insurance.

I have been accepted into the business colleges of the University of Georgia, Clemson University, University of South Florida, and Florida State University and am currently undecided where I will continue my education but I look forward to learning more and becoming a part of the business world.  I have known since my first year of high school that I wanted a degree in business but I was not sure what category of business.  After being educated on insurance, I have realized that the insurance industry is perfect for me.  To be more specific, a position that strongly interests me is to be a sales agent.  One of my strongest suits is communicating with people, as I am very outgoing and love to build new relationships.  As a sales agent, I would be able to connect with people and build relationships while trying to build the insurance company’s clientele and would also be serving the client in trying to protect them with high quality insurance.  Insurance is an extremely reliable job industry because society will always need insurance so there will always be jobs available.  What I love most about insurance is that I would have the opportunity to help people every day.  The main theme we learned about all week was how insurance “makes people whole again.”  Before being involved in the InVEST program, I didn’t know much about insurance and assumed it was just something you pay for but now I realize that working in the insurance field would allow me to make a difference in peoples’ lives daily.  I could not be more grateful to have had the opportunity to learn about insurance through the InVEST program and appreciate everyone involved in the program helping teenagers better our futures.
